About a day or two after recording this show Monoprice announced that they will be selling a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a few other Mini DisplayPort adapters. This is great news and a great 3rd party solution for those of you who have newer Macs and want to connect them to your TV.

Steve, you mentioned on the show that you would post notes on how to enable 5.1 audio on the Mac. You mentioned there was a way to activate it in Quicktime and Front Row. However, I don't see any link here for those directions. Thanks.

Sorry about that. Thought I had that in the notes...

I was looking at monoprice's description of the mini displayport to hdmi adapter. It says that the VESA spec for the mini displayport can include audio, if the manufacturer of the output device includes it.
Does anyone know if the Mac's Mini Displayport includes audio?
This would allow you to use this adapter for a direct audio/video input from the new macs via an HDMI cable, which would be nice.

Sorry to say that the Mini DisplayPort doesn't include audio (would be nice if it did)....

If you have a new mac mini without the remote, and an ipod touch or iphone, here's an app that will let you use the basic remote interface as an iphont/touch app for .99
